In 1985, when we first started building and flying kites, we formed a group of dedicated Jerusalem kite flyers who met together every weekend. Among us was Uri Abeles, whose vibrant spirit and the warmth of his beautiful family added color, noise, and life to our gatherings. Uri was not just a participant but an inspiration to us all.
In 1991, Uri’s passion and expertise culminated in the publication of the finest kite-making book in Hebrew—a resource that has guided and inspired countless kite enthusiasts over the years.
Last month, Uri Abeles succumbed to a long and courageous battle with illness. He passed away at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of joy and creativity. Uri will forever remain in our hearts, soaring high like the kites he loved so dearly.
